Daily Book Graphics #55 / Meet the Beetles

These illustrations are from Open Air Guides: Guide to Beetles, by Jan Bechayne, published in 1956. It is for "those interested in naming the common British and European Beetles, and also for those seeking an introduction to the more detailed study of these insects."

That is really interesting. Fascinating even. I did not know there were that many variations of beetles.

Beetles are incredibly diverse, there are an estimated 400,000 different species!

i love book graphics, especially ones of insects and other animals (anatomy) so interesting, slightly grotesque sometimes and really clinical.
how much to the lady beetle wings remind you of those random cards that psychiatrists use and say "what do you see?" (lol)
